Workshop on drafting Child Labor Monitoring System (CLMS)

Panauti Municipality organized a two days workshop on 11th May- 12th May 2018 at Nagarkot to establish and functionalized Child Labor Monitoring System (CLMS) in their Municipality. It was conducted as a part of a CLEAR II project, supported by Winrock International (WI) and facilitated by CWISH. The major objective of the workshop was to discuss the draft guidelines on CLMS, accommodating the feedbacks received from the tripartite organizations; CWISH, WI and Panauti Municipality. Further, it also aimed to finalize those documents, amending it wherever required as per the recommendation made by experts/facilitators and the participants.

The program started with a welcome session by Social Development Officer (SDO) of Panauti Municipality, Kesav Banjara, which was followed by welcome remarks of Mayor, Bhim Neupane, Chairperson of CWISH, Bimala Jnawali, Country coordinator of WI, Milan Adhikary and Senior Administrative Officer of Panauti Municipality Indra P. Adhikary. The entire speakers expressed their happiness for the opportunity to gather together and contribute to the establishment and institutionalization of CLMS. They appreciated the progress made by the CLEAR II project to date and hoped for its successful completion.

In the program, all seven draft CLMS documents: Child Protection Policy, Background of CLMS, Formation of CPCs (MCPS and WCPC) and its Procedures, CLMS guideline, Data collection guideline, Rescue and referral guideline and Time frame for the execution of CLMS was presented in the PowerPoints and was discussed line by line. Child activists Chandrika Khatiwoda and Uddav Raj Poudyal facilitated the discussion session and made necessary changes in the documents. Whereas, Team leader of CWISH, Krishna P.Subedi and Thematic coordinator, Yubraj Ghimire also supported the discussion session and enhanced the effectiveness of the program.
