CLMS guideline validation workshop

Panauti Municipality validated guidelines on child labor monitoring system on the 13th of June 2018 at Municipality hall of Panauti in the presence of Municipal board members, Winrock and CWISH team. The preparation of CLMS guidelines was done through a series of discussions, consultation among Panauti Municipality, Winrock and CWISH. These guidelines such as rescue and referral guideline, committee formation guideline, data collection guidelines, etc developed as a part of CLMS was endorsed by the Panauti Municipality board in the validation workshop. The validation of CLMS guideline was done through the board meeting. The event was chaired by Mayor, Mr. Bhim Neupane.

The validation workshop was initiated by Senior Administrative Officer Mr. Indra Prasad Adhikari by his welcome note. In his welcome speech, he addressed Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Founder member of CWISH, Municipal members and CLEAR II team from CWISH and Winrock. Then, the program proceeds with the remarks from Founder member of CWISH, Mrs. Shanti Adhikari. Firstly, she highlighted the CWISH intervention and activism for Child rights in Nepal and later expressed her happiness to know about the progress of CLMS activities in Panauti. She also appreciated the Tripartite- CWISH, Winrock and Panauti Municipality for working together to fight against child labor. In the end she wished for the successful implementation of CLMS in Panauti. Following her speech, Team leader of CWISH, Mr. Krishna Subedi shed some light upon the CLEAR II project starting with how the team moved ahead with the project and where they have reached till now. He thanked all the participants of the project for being cooperative and dedicated to minimizing child labor.

Continuing with the speech, Mr. Manoj Manandhar from Winrock talked about the history of child labor monitoring activities of Winrock in Panauti Municipality and collaboration with CWISH for its sustainability through CLEAR II project. Finally, Mayor, Mr. BhimNeupane stressed the situation of child labor in the Panauti Municipality and expressed his commitment to reducing child labor through effective implementation of CLMS. In this way, Panauti Municipality formally legalized CLMS guidelines.
